TRAVEL INFORMATION

To and from Japan:

  • The most convenient airport to Tokyo is Haneda Airport.
  • The closest airport to Kyoto is Kansai Airport. However, flights out of Kansai are very expensive, so a better option may be taking the Bullet Train (Shinkansen) back to Tokyo (2.5 hours on the Nozomi Super Express) and flying home from there.

Within Japan:

  • Bullet Train from Tokyo to Hamamatsu. We will send more details after all RSVPs are in regarding whether you need to buy in advance or can purchase when in Japan.
  • Bus from Hamamatsu to Kyoto. Arrangements will be made by Hitoshi and Mitsuka, and IHAA members will be billed.

HOTEL INFORMATION

We are working on hotel recommendations. This is an unusual circumstance in that we will not have specific hotel information until after we receive RSVPs. When you RSVP, please indicate if you are bringing a spouse, partner, family member, or colleague. In Japan, hotel costs are per person, rather than per room.

If you have any questions, please reach out to IHAA staff member Laura Jansen. She is happy to help.
